Currently Enrolling For the 2008-2009 School Year!!!
Kinderprep's Kindergarten
Kinderprep's Kindergarten is approved by the Westfield Board of Education. Our Kindergarten program is a full-day program from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Children may come as early as 7:30 a.m. or stay as late as 6:00 p.m. School begins September 3, 2008 and ends on June 25. 2009.
The Kindergarten curriculum was created by owners/directors Lara Pallant and Marybeth Grassi. All academic subjects are based on a monthly theme.
Our math program uses the Everyday Math approach. This program compliments our philosophy of creating a "hands on" learning environment.
Our Language Arts program incorporates the following areas: Reading, Writing, Phonics, and Spelling. Through weekly themes the students will be exposed to several different reading gendres throughout the school year, which makes for a rich liturature experience. Students have the opportunity to enjoy both guided and independent reading. Writing and illustrating is always encouraged. Students will learn all the fundamentals to forming their letters as well as writing simple sentences. Creative writing activities will encourage students to put their toughts into words or drawings. Kinderprep has purchased a new phonics program, which has also recently been introduced into the Westfield public school system as well.
Social Studies incorporates learning about different people, cultures, habitats, and the world we live in. Students also take Spanish once a week, which is part of our foriegn language program.
The Science program teaches students to make predictions, experiment, observe and draw their own conclusions through hands on activities. Students will also enjoy several opportunities to make culinary creations within their classroom.
Art is a time to get messy and express yourself! We believe the process is more important than the product. We want each individuals personality to be reflected in their artwork.
In additon to all the academic subjects children have plenty of time for free play and dramatic play. It is through play that children express themselves freely and learn to socialize with others. We also feel outside play and exercise is equally important for promoting a healthy lifestyle. Kindergartners will be engaged in an organized gym activitiy twice a week in addition to their daily outside time.
